I rolled back after several hours of not being afk while getting points towards the title. fortunately i had a screen shot to prove it and sent it to them.

no clue. its not supposed to be possible to rollback an individual account. so id assume that they couldnt roll one forward. besides, if they did this, you'd lose what you've done since the original rollback.

i dont even care about my progress (my cash was reset, so all i lost was time, and afk time at that). i just really want to know what happened and that its going to be addressed. id hate for someone to have actually done something important, and have it rollback on him. imagine a rollback after a trip through DoA...

  • Character Name: Legend Ari
  • Territory: North America
  • District and/or Maps: American District 26, Shing Jea Monastery
  • What Changed: Drunkard title track disappeared, Lucky title track changed back to first level, Boardwalk Tickets disappeared, Gold reappeared, Rice Wine and Eggnog reappeared.
  • Time (time zone) and Date: February 24 at about 12-2 am pacific time
  • Other Details: I was not set to away status, I was online. I was not using a minipet, as the district was full of them already. I warped to shing jea dist 26, bought tickets to play in the rings, and went to Nine Rings, where I took the corner closest to the Teilah NPC. I was active for about 30 minutes, used several rice wines and eggnog to start up the drunkard title track which I hadn't started (no track showing until that night). I used the ales on the ring I was standing on. Then I went away from the computer for a few hours starting at about 11pm pacific time. When I came back my character was at the character selection screen, and when I logged all the way in, I was in shing jea and all my items, gold, and title tracks were EXACTLY as they were before I entered shing jea monastery and played rings (so they were the same as what they had been at about 10:30 pm pacific time).

EDIT: Also upon logging into the game today, my game did a repairing data archive action.

Well, Gaile just went to international dis 1 in SjM. Supposedly the new update fixes the problem. Let's hope so.
Shortly afterward, everyone err7ed in int. dis 1. It just happened again at 8:42. That's a pretty good sign, no?

Here is news for you:

We just completed a live build. The purpose was to fix a bug that was causing some players to have their progress "rolled back" in Shing Jea Monastery during the weekend event.

Here are the update notes:

- Corrected a server issue that caused some players to lose progress during the Boardwalk event in Shing Jea Monastery.

These notes will be published on the website in about an hour, but I wanted you to be aware of them now. Thanks to all who helped us nail this bug!!

Is there any way that the progress that was lost towards our titles will be reverted back to us? I saw no mention of compensation ><

I tried coming on this morning to see if other were experiencing the problem but the forums were down for quite a while.

I lost all the progress I had yesterday from 5 central until ~2:30 - 3:00am.

As a side note, as best as I can tell, there is no "automatic logoff" at 10 hours, 24 hours or whatever. Within the past week, I left my comp running and came back to repeated "You have been playing for 1 day, please take a break." messages in my chat box.

Well i tried to repeat what I did last night except having status to offline, and I never got kicked I did a little comparison on what my winnings might have been.I came up with 25,000 tickets won on the low end to 40,000 tickets on the high end.so i am thinking down the middle of 30 something

only here would someone want to be *compensated* for being AFK doing something else.

Do you really think anyone is working on this title and NOT being AFK? Being afk has nothing to do with the question of compensation. If I had been sitting there at the keyboard the whole time my tickets (and money spent to buy them) would have been affected. Take your snide remarks and save them for when they are appropriate.

This implies you had an opportunity cost. What is the opportunity cost of you being AFK? You were clearly doing something else with your time so you can not claim "time" as a loss.

Also, this is considered gambling. If you are in a casino, perhaps on a slot machine, and the machine breaks... you MAY have your cash returned to you. If the machine breaks in your favor? This recently happened, a machine accidentally gave out a jackpot, the man had said jackpot taken away.

You didn't lose out on any gold, because it was returned, correct?

So let's see... You have whatever you had prior to said bug, nothing is "lost" aside from time, but "time" is not an acceptable opportunity cost as you were doing something else while you were AFK.

What exactly are you wanting compensation for then?

So Cherno, while he may have been brief with his comment, it was logical.

If I was rolled back I'd be wanting compensation for the time advantage others who did not also get rolled back had over me in getting ahead in the titles.

What they should in my view do is leave the boardwalk open for another week to compensate for those who got rolled back. Similar to how they extended Wintersday due to an earthquake.

I could be wrong but I thought the guy who was asking for compensation was asking about gold and tickets that disappeared and never got reverted and not about lost time. If that's the case then he's got a reasonable request.....but these things are hard to fix and he'll just have to eat the loss.

It would be a nice thing for ANET to extend the event a day for those who have lost time on this limited event though. That's the only "compensation" I recommend.
